Beyoncé was so, so intentional with this performance. We need to know that our ancestors were not criminals-they were defending themselves and building up Black communities. I went to a regular degular school that taught us about this country’s racist history, but I was never taught about Black Panthers. Seeing an array of Afros spread across the 50-yard line on an American football field was unbelievable.
